Take the E to 50th

The Liar and I landed in JFK at 11:45pm.  After a surprisingly painless stroll through immigration and customs, we caught the (woeful) airtrain to our shuttle-bus, which delivered us to our hotel.  We got there at almost 12:30am, so we went to bed.

The next day we took the various public transport steps required to reach our hostel in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan.  We had arrived long before check-in, so we set out to explore our part of Manhattan.

It was a humid and sunny day, a big change from the brisk, clean German air.  As we wandered north we were greeted by a statue of Christopher Columbus, and the corner of Central Park.

Neither of us were ready for the size of Central Park.

After we left the park we spent some time wandering Manhattan, before checking into our hostel.  We then decided to explore downtown, so we jumped back on the E train.

We wandered quite aimlessly, and found ourselves on Wall Street.

Eventually we were too exhausted to continue walking, so we took the subway back to Hell's Kitchen and waited in our hostel for the Talk and the Skeptic to arrive.  When they did we took them out for a beer and a hamburger.

The next leg of the tour had begun.
